How it works
It works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause fever, pain and inflammation (redness and swelling).
Usage And Safety
Dosage
Adults : The recommended dose is 150 to 200 mg daily in two, three or four divided. In patients with severe symptoms or disease of recent origin or during acute exacerbations, the total daily dosage may be increased to 300 mg in divided doses. Children : Not recommended . OR As directed by your physician.
Side Effects
Local erythema , pruritis , dermatitis , photosensitivity.
Drug Interactions
Diuretics, ACE inhibitors and Angiotensin II Antagonists , quinolones, anticoagulants , lithium .
Indication
Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, musculoskeletal disorders and trauma such as periarthritis, frozen shoulder, bursitis, tendonitis, tenosynovitis, low back pain, sprains and strains.
When not to Use
You are sensitive (allergic) any of the ingredients in the list.
Precautions
Precaution
Caution is necessary if it is given to patients with a history of heart failure or hypertension since edema and fluid retention have been reported in association with Flurbiprofen administration.
Warnings
Warning 1
Flurbiprofen, like other NSAIDs, may inhibit platelet aggregation and prolong bleeding time.
Warning 2
Caution is required in patients with renal, cardiac or hepatic impairment since the use of NSAIDs may result in deterioration of renal function.
Warning 3
The dose should be kept as low as possible and renal function should be monitored in these patients.
